Dayton – Tucked into a beautiful valley just east of Carson City, Dayton was originally founded by pioneers as a temporary settlement for miners waiting to cross the Sierra’s heading for the California Gold Rush. With the discovery of The Comstock Lode in nearby Virginia City, and the climate and the fertile ground provided by the Carson River, Dayton grew into a thriving farm community. Today, Dayton is home to just under 9,000 residents and provides a relaxed small town lifestyle where bits and pieces of the Wild West still linger. Dayton has an amazing history and a wonderful future ahead – no wonder it is one of our fastest growing communities.
